לראשונה, IDFA (פסטיבל דוקומנטרי בינלאומי אמסטרדם) חוברת עם TEMPO לצוות חשיבה משולב על עתיד העריכה הדוקומנטרית.
IDFA מכיר בכך שבכל יצירת סרטים, אבל במיוחד בסרטים תיעודיים, שלב העריכה הוא בעצם המקום שבו הסרט מקבל את הצורה, הצורה, האיזון, העדינות והמהות שלו. זה והרצאות עתידיות יהיו על אמנות העריכה של סרט תיעודי.
המהדורה הראשונה תתמקד בתוצאות סקר חדש של איגוד עורכי הקולנוע הגרמני BFS. ביוזמת קבוצת עבודה של BFS בשם Dok:Schnitt:Zukunft (Docs:Edit:Future), הסקר מנתח את תנאי העבודה הנוכחיים של סרטים דוקומנטריים בתעשיית הקולנוע הגרמנית. הוא חושף כיצד איכותם של סרטים דוקומנטריים יכולה להיות הרבה יותר טובה אם התנאים לעורכים היו משופרים. נושאי הדיון יכללו: תכנון ריאלי של משכי העריכה, עמלות ריאליות, שקיפות בתקציבים, עוזרי עורכים ומימון לאחר הפקה.
עורכות הסרט אן פאביני (גרמניה, BFS) וג'וסי נייטנה (דנמרק, DFKS) יובילו את צוות החשיבה. המשתתפים העיקריים בדיון הם Sercan Sezgin Les Monteurs associés - LMA, Ruben van der Hammen NCE - איגוד עורכי הקולנוע בהולנד, Ivan Guarnizo Editores Colombianos ECCA ומאיה דייזי הוק (ניו זילנד).

For the first time, IDFA (International Documentary Festival Amsterdam) teams up with TEMPO for a combined Think Tank on the future of documentary editing.
IDFA recognizes that in all filmmaking, but especially in documentaries, the editing phase is essentially where a film gets it’s form, shape, balance, subtlety and substance. This and future talks will be about The Art of Documentary Film Editing.
The first edition will focus on the results of a new survey by the German Film Editors Association BFS. Initiated by a BFS workgroup called Dok:Schnitt:Zukunft (Docs:Edit:Future), the survey analyzes the current working conditions for documentaries in the German film industry. It reveals how the quality of documentaries could be much better if conditions for editors were improved. Topics of discussion will include: realistic planning of editing durations, realistic fees, transparency in budgets, assistant editors on all docs, and post production funding.
Film editors Anne Fabini (Germany, BFS) and Giusy Naitana (Denmark, DFKS) will lead the think tank. Main participants of the discussion are Sercan Sezgin Les Monteurs associés - LMA, Ruben van der Hammen NCE - Netherlands association of Cinema Editors, Ivan Guarnizo Editores Colombianos ECCA and Maya Daisy Hawke (New Zealand).
The TEMPO Think Tank will take place as an in-person event in Amsterdam, November 21, 15.00 – 17.00 CET at De Brakke Grond. Due to COVID regulations, no more than 12 people can join this session, but it can be followed online by TEMPO members globally.
